Items of Interest
The following two items are provided to interested producers.
MSU Extension Soybean Variety Demonstration Program–2018 Results. These are results from a portion of MSPB Project 36-2018 (Dr. Trent Irby’s SMART Program). During the 2018 season, a total of 22 on-farm variety demonstration plots were conducted in 15 counties across Mississippi. Tests at 12 of the locations were furrow-irrigated and tests at 10 locations were not irrigated. MG IV and MG V Roundup Ready Xtend and Liberty Link varieties were grown and tested at various locations.
Mature plant height, lodging, shattering, and green stem scores, seed moisture content at harvest, and seed yield were recorded at all locations. Ratings of each variety for presence of Cercospora leaf blight, frogeye leaf spot, Septoria brown spot, and target spot were recorded at selected locations.
The information in the linked publication is intended to complement data that are generated through the Miss. Soybean OVT trials.
