Items of Interest to Miss. Soybean Producers

Mississippi State Univ. has announced the following opportunities that are available to Miss. soybean producers.

The 2024 Agronomic Scout School is being hosted by the Miss. State Row Crop Team at Raymond, Stoneville, and Verona in June 2024. These events are free to all interested parties. The program will cover insects, diseases, fertility, and agronomy. Click the above link for further details.

The MSPB is funding free nematode testing through the Miss. State Univ. Extension Service Plant Diagnostic Lab. These free tests are limited to the first 500 requests that are received for soil samples from Miss. soybean fields that have been cropped to soybeans in either 2022 or 2023. Soil to be tested should be submitted in nematode bags that are available at a local Extension office, along with Form 488 that is available on the lab’s webpage. The MSPB’s aim in funding this endeavor is to evaluate the abundance and distribution of the various nematode species in the state. HG type testing will be done on samples from fields that are infested with soybean cyst nematode.

The annual Miss. State Univ. Row Crop Short Course will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 through Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024 in the Mill Conference Center in Starkville, Miss.
